My brothers!

Normally, I ignore the crazy's at the train station! But, these boys could not be ignored and I didn't mind watchin if you know what I mean! Ha! Here was my favorite guy!

after the clock tour came celebrating the Chinese New Year!

We went to a stake activity to start it off! Food and semi-entertainment...
so then we headed off to meet Jess's friend, but the restaurant looked too ritzy for us...so we found an awesome cheap place in Chinatown...
Which had the most delicious "steam balls" (pretty much a divine homeade huge roll with meat in the middle of it)
and they were only 80 cents each! Yummy! We have craved them every night since... ok so I guess that's just 2 nights, but still, we have considered taking our hour ride into the city just to partake.

Tour de Clocks!

(this goes out to my clock loving buddy Syd...)
J and I are all about free and different.
So, we opened up the book my sis Lisa gave me on fun things to do in NY.
We decided to go on a tour of clocks on Sat! Yes, clocks!
We walked and subwayed it up around the city and say clocks of all shapes and sizes!

on a lighter note for all of you!

A week ago today, J and I adventured into the city for the MTK holiday...
Ventured onto Canal street... it was a wet, cold, and snowy day, so the vendors weren't up to much, except for whispering Prada, Gucci, etc. in my ear!
Got hot chocolate at Starbucks to warm up...
we went to the empire state building...
grabbed a magnolia's cupcake...
went in the St. Patrick's cathedral...
dreamed in Anthropology...
and so much more.
Life with J is always a blast.
I'm so glad I have her here!

trying to hide underneath it all...

This is a random post and not of the sort I normally do, but I feel as though I need to be open with myself and everyone else. I guess the point is just to say sorry... I have been trying for a long time to pretend everything is normal, but the truth is, it's not. Most of you know, I dated a guy seriously for three years, was best friend's with him for four of those. This past July, he broke things off, and I have not been able to find myself since. I know we all go through our own trials and to some this may not seem like a big deal, but to me, this has been extremely hard, trying, depressing, and confusing time. I have never felt so lost. I thought in time it would make it easier, but the black cloud just feels like it is still hanging over me. Sometimes I think the cloud may be lifting, only to be replaced by a darker one the next day. I really hope I find happiness soon, but right now the path is quite foggy. It's amazing how one can hurt you so much, yet you still want to be a part of his life. It doesn't make sense.

I want to apologize for not being myself. I want to ask for your patience as I chip my way through the mountain of ice. I want to thank those of you that have been there and given me strength to go on. Please continue to wait for me to get my life back together. I need you more than anything in my life right now.

I want my head to be cleared, I want to see the rainbow. I wanted to see it a long time ago, but I am still eagerly awaiting.

I pray that time will come soon...

going to the beach... with snow?

Yes... J and I went to see the beach which isn't too far from our house. It was the first time I have ever worn boats, a pea coat, gloves, and beanie to the beach. It was fun seeing snow on the sand.

city girls and hanging with the stars

Waitin for the subway... patiently in the cold
Eating some cheesesteaks sandwiches
jess recognizing the star that sat in the table directly to our left. He's the one in the picture on the right. Also on the classic Clueless! There were many open tables, but he chose to sit by us hotties. It was kind of funny because the crazy ladies that work there were freakin out. It was a fun moment.
YUMMY!
We went to see one of Jess's friend's brother's photography exhibit. So we met up with them then headed back home.

my saving grace

When you move to a brand new place, don't know a soul, and had a rough start... it can be a little hard. But...thank goodness for bff's that save the day by moving out! I picked Jess up from the airport this last Wed. and it has brought some light back into my life!We went and got some pizza at one of the many pizza joints. This was the first of our many adventures to come!! Yay!

My internship

As many of you know, I am doing an internship at Schneider Children's Hospital in New Hyde Park, New York. I am doing my internship to become a Child Life Specialist. What is a Child Life Specialist? Well here is an excerpt from the Child Life Council on childlife.org:

"Child life specialists are trained professionals with expertise in helping children and their families overcome life’s most challenging events. Armed with a strong background in child development and family systems, child life specialists promote effective coping through play, preparation, education, and self-expression activities. They provide emotional support for families, and encourage optimum development of children facing a broad range of challenging experiences, particularly those related to healthcare and hospitalization. Because they understand that a child’s wellbeing depends on the support of the family, child life specialists provide information, support and guidance to parents, siblings, and other family members. They also play a vital role in educating caregivers, administrators, and the general public about the needs of children under stress."
It's not an easy field and I'd be lying if I said my eyes haven't already welled up with tears on more than one occasion, but it is amazing. It is amazing to offer support to the sick child, and amazing to see the strength they have.

visiting my sis

After a three day drive, a three hour drive seemed like nothing, so a few days after getting to NY, I got in the car to go visit Mel and her fam at her friends house in Pennsylvania. It was so good to see all of them. I'm glad I had the opportunity before my internship started up!
