It's no JoKe when I say...

we had to go through these guys upon entering the movie theater tonight...

and that we went to the Jonas Brothers in 3D (in support of Jess, but I won't lie when I say it was fun!)And no joke that we were the oldest ones in there without kids. But to our saving grace, I don't think the Jonas Brothers were thought highly of in the part of the hood we were in, if ya know what I mean, so there were only about ten of us in the whole theater!

Lastly, it is not a joke that a hot black dude asked us how "Street Fighters" was as we walked out. I turned and showed him my 3D glasses in my hand and said, "Oh, you mean the Jonas Brothers?!!" He was caught a little off guard I believe, and as we walked away he said, "Don't worry, I think you're cool still!" Ha ha... Awesome!

a Day with the City Girls

We started the day off going in and out of the shops of Canal Street... mainly to get out of the wind knocking us over.
Since we were so close, we had to hit up our fav steam bun place in Chinatown for breakfast?
J's choice for lunch was Grays Papaya... Hot Dogs! Yes, we shared the recession special! One dollar off the combo- 2 dogs and a drink- totaling $4.45. This pic will go in the recession history books! We walked around the Columbus Circle exquisitely dazzling mall. I dreamt about the day I will be able to afford buying the elegant clothing displayed in the windows. We made our way down to one of the nicest Whole Foods. We satisfied our sweet tooth by snagging some free samples of cookies. This is one of about the 7 pictures we tried to take of us and the temple. I gave up with getting one that actually worked.Where else is a better place to see, "Confessions of a Shopaholic," than in NYC itself. This movie made me want to become a shopaholic rather than the contrary. I day dreamed even more of buying dazzling fashionable clothes... And why not, finish our day with food! I have been seriously craving some southwestern Mexican food and I had a free burrito card at Chipotle! It was close by, so off we went. I know you are wondering if I am getting larger by the amount of food consumption. Answer= yes. But hey, I'm livin it up in NY!

A fabulous, fun filled day... And if you are wondering if we always where the same clothes... the answer is no! Problem is it's always so cold are cutely planned outfits are covered by the same ole jackets! Soon enough it will be spring.

if it takes 2 hours to get to church... eNtErTaIn (yourselves and others on board)!

So it's the never ending saga of the adventures to church. It is all because every weekend, there is a new closure, where they are doing maintenence on some section, which causes quite the detours and long rides... but ya know, J and I came here for an adventure! And we are sure getting it! (I don't know why I blackmailed myself by posting the second picture, but hey, we all know I get crazy at times! It's no secret.)

We'll call him Frederick...

So today... I hear clankity clank clank in the silverware drawer in the kitchen... I stop what I am doing and put my ear against the drawer... there truly was a dance party going on in there. So, I hold in my breathe in fear of what I may discover, open the drawer and see a tail dissappear into the back. I gasp. Close the drawer. Gain composure and bravery to reopen the drawer (I was alone during this moment). I open it slowly... no critter in sight, but plenty of lovely droppings!! Sick oh sick... on the silverware. I return to my studies. Then I hear clankity clank clank again. I dash over to the drawer and kick it... shaking the counter and hopefully scaring the mousy mouse mouse away for forever! I have a nasty clean up job to do and now I have to invest in some mouse killing armor in case Frederick decides to make another appearance... I think the dollar menus will be servicing me until I gain trust in my silverware that it contains no more crappy nastiness poopness on it!
the crack in the door where Frederick will be making his way to visit...Jess tonight!!! :)

The weekly adventure of going to church

Each Sunday, getting to church can be a process... I usually arrive at a train station to discover a weekend closure which means you have to take the shuttle bus that makes a ton more stops than a subway! So you go on this bus for forever, transfer onto the subway when available, then take it into the city. Luckily, the church is close to the subway station, making the at least 1 hr and 1/2 trek a little bit shorter! It's just always a surprise because you never know if the station will be open or closed... I wonder what this Sunday's surpise will be...

This has really tested my faith to see if I'm actually going to go on these detours or turn around and go home. The latter has crossed my mind a plethra of times, especially when the detour took 2 and 1/2 hours, thus missing the first hour of church... oops.

It really is an adventure. And it really is something new... both of which I was looking for in coming out here!

cousins visit!!!

So I was way excited when my cousin, Lynette, called and said she wanted to meet up with me for dinner when her and her husband Ron, along with their son Michael, wife Jenna, and their kiddos, came to NYC.

J and I took off after I got home... late from work... got stuck in rush hour traffic... got to the train station way late... subway took what seemed like forever to get to where we needed!

Long story short... we made it to dinner as it was time for them to leave dinner to make it to their broadway show! Oh dear... we felt bad! I was so excited that I still got to see them despite the forces against us and we ended up getting in a nice chat as we walked them towards where their show was.

J and I ate the leftover pizza and then hit up Serendipity's for dessert... we had the classic, Frozen Hot Chocolate! Yum! Except it for sure gave me a tummy ache the rest of the night! Oops... oh well, it was worth it!
